How to Apply for the Legacy Scholarship

Applications are now open. Get the step-by-step guide to the submission process for high school seniors and current college students in Stark County.

Eligibility

To be considered for the Legacy Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria.

Residency

Must be a resident of Stark County, Ohio.

Education Level

Open to high school seniors and college students.

Academic Standing

Must hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

College Type

Must plan to attend or currently attend a Christian college or university.

Field of Study

Must be pursuing a degree in Education, Counseling, or Social Work.

What We Will Need

Please carefully read through the list of required documents to be attached to all application submissions.

  • Completed application form (available through The Christ Foundation website once applications open).
  • One letter of recommendation from a school official or teacher.
  • One letter of recommendation from a pastor or church leader.
  • Official transcript showing current GPA.
  • Personal essay (500–750 words) describing your call to serve others through your chosen field and how your faith influences your academic journey.

Scholarship Details

  • Total Annual Funding: $100,000 distributed among recipients
  • Award Period: One academic year (renewal considered on a case-by-case basis)
  • Funds Disbursement: Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the educational
    institution to cover qualified educational expenses (tuition, fees, books, and
    required supplies).

Selection Process

  • Recipients will be selected by The Christ Foundation Trustees following review and recommendation by the Scholarship Committee.
  • Selection will be based on:
    • Academic performance
    • Character and Christian leadership
    • Letters of recommendation
    • Personal essay
    • Alignment with the Foundation’s mission of faith-based service

Conditions
