About Us

The Christ Foundation was founded in 1971 by Jerry and Patricia Moore with a singular mission: to help children in need and guide them toward their Savior, Jesus Christ.

Since its inception, the foundation has expanded its reach significantly, supporting local ministries, schools, and churches while also aiding preachers and missions around the world.

Jerry Moore

Jerry Moore was born in Sour Lake, Texas, and made his home in the Canton, Ohio area starting in 1961. As a World War II Navy veteran, he went on to establish a successful oil and gas company. Deeply grateful for the blessings in his life, Jerry dedicated himself to finding ways to share God’s love with others. While Jerry passed away in 2020, he ensured that his legacy would live on through the work of The Christ Foundation.

Our Mission

The Christ Foundation is a private foundation dedicated to expressing our Christian faith through acts of charity. Inspired by 1 Peter 4:10, which calls us to use our gifts to serve others, we strive to create lasting change by funding organizations that assist the least of these. Through the grants given, our mission is to help others discover the gospel and the hope it brings.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Grateful for all he had been given, Jerry continually sought ways to bless others so that they may know God’s love. While Jerry passed away in 2020, his vision continues to guide our work.

1971

Following the call

Jerry, knowing that all good things come from Jesus Christ, wanted to honor God by naming the non-profit The Christ Foundation. Jerry always knew that he had been blessed richly by God and had always used The Christ Foundation as a way to bless those most in need.

1970

The idea for a non-profit

Five years later the boys’ home was flourishing and a plan for a second home was proposed. Jerry committed to helping financially with this second home and sought counsel from his friend and church elder, Flavel Orange. Flavel suggested that Jerry start a non-profit organization as a route for helping the boys’ homes.

1965

Early support

At church, Jerry was introduced to a man who started a home for young boys in foster care. Upon hearing that this mission needed financial assistance, he did not hesitate to provide support.

1965

Seeing the hurt

After his marriage to Patricia in 1965, Jerry saw the negative effects of divorce on his blended family and wanted to help children in similar situations and foster care.
